Population: 471,379 “Tamad na lang ang hindi makaka-graduate sa Makati,” says Aida Castisimo, a long-time Makati resident. You see, the city provides not just free tuition to its 45,000 elementary and high school students, but also gives out stroller bags, testbooks, uniforms (one set of everyday uniform and four P.E. shirts), notebooks, pad paper, and pencils. Castisimo's children and nieces and nephews go to the Yabut Elementary School in Barangay Estrella. Makati 's public schools are very up-to-date. Even pre-schoolers have computers; its one to forty computer-to student ratio which is highest in the Philippines. |
