The festival, while primarily a religious fiesta has through time engendered a socio-cultural character and
dimension: the reinforcement of social bonding and ties among Bicolanos that draws even non-Bicolanos
to
join
us in this
colorful and vibrant spectacle.
In behalf of our people, I welcome all our guests, pilgrims and devotees with open arms as we prepare our
homes, plazas, cafes, as well as street dancers, musicians and other performers for the 9-day pomp
and revelry.
Once again, let us nourish our hearts in this distinct Bicolano display of thanksgiving for the good graces
that we receive as we look forward to another period of peace and prosperity for our city, our region
and our nation.
