I will be participating in a debate tomorrow wherein the proposition is actually about whether we should or we should not allow the establishment of SM in Naga. I belong to the team which says it should be allowed. I just would like to share my points then to all Nagueños.
Establishing SM Naga will give us the following benefits:
1. It will generate employment for the people, not just in the short term, but in the long term as well. Establishing SM Naga will deliver a "domino effect" - which means, it would result to more and more investors who will invest in the city; thus, improving almost every aspect in our area - education, economy (employment, tax revenues), infrastructures, technology, and a lot more.
2. It will stengthen competition between and among malls and other stores in the city; thus, will result to better products and services that the Nagueños can enjoy. Business establishments will simply need to improve their products and services to maintain or even improve their market shares amid strong competition.
3. The transportation industry will also be improved. SM Mall will simply encourage more people from the sorrounding municiplaities of Naga to come to the city. With this, transport operators will really reap the benefits too.

I think Naga City is ready to embrace bigtime businesses in the country like SM. This will challenge our local business operators, but will not kill them. However SM will not pursue as long as the land ownership case will not be decided in prompt time.

SM will open in Legazpi City The location is the vacant lot on the city's busines center, the former public market building. Soon Legazpi will have 3 big malls: the 4 storey LCC Mall, the 3 level Gaisano/Pacific Mall and SM Legazpi.
sorry to disappoint u Nageuaños, Legazpi is the center of Bicol. It has Mayon Volcano, a big port/pier and soon to be an international airport to boot.
sorry to disappoint u Legaspiños, Naga is the Main-Location of Bicol, just about a allways dangerous "Mayon" Vulcano, it's Legazpi not important enough for SM.
SM started constraction allready here in Naga City "Heart of Bicol", beside Bus-Terminal, so it's very clear, what's place & City is much more attractive for SM.
best regards
