CityNet
is a network promoting local urban improvement initiatives in the
Asian-Pacific region. CityNet's vision is to act as a focal
point and facilitator in the Asian-Pacific region. It puts this
vision into practice by promoting the exchange of expertise and
experiences among various stakeholders, particularly local authorities
and NGOs, and expanding bilateral relationships into a multilateral
network. CityNet aims for members' self-reliant development, and

is the international environmental agency for local governments.
ICLEI's mission is to build and serve a worldwide movement of local
governments to achieve tangible improvements in global environmental
and sustainable development conditions through cumulative local
actions. Building a worldwide movement requires that ICLEI functions
as a democratic, international association of local governments.
Serving a worldwide movement requires that ICLEI operates as an
international environmental agency for local governments.
More
than 400 cities, towns, counties, and their associations from around
the world are full Members of the Council, with hundreds of additional
local governments participating in specific ICLEI campaigns and
projects. As a movement, association, and agency, ICLEI continues
to work towards its environmental and sustainable development goals.

Welcome to the Philippines Network. This network responds to a growing
demand from municipal leaders and practitioners from the seven CDS
cities to expand their existing networks, to discuss and share knowledge
and, through this dialogue, to develop more effective solutions
for urban problems. The objective of this network is to strengthen
and expand existing local knowledge resources in each one
of the seven CDS cities. It will allow us to solve immediate problems
through communities of municipal practitioners and by the use of

and information in the land. There has long been a need for an aggregated
online resource on the different branches of Philippine government.
In the past, the few websites which belonged to government agencies
were not uniform and hard to find. This government portal,
although a work in progress, consists currently around 600 pages
worth of updated information. High technology has ensured that there
will always be news courtesy of the Office of the Press Secretary
and other news agencies.
